Forespar’s quick-release Steering Control Arm extends functional range when behind the wheel. Made specifically for use while motoring or easy sailing, the control arm allows the driver to move away from the helm station and still control the steering.

This extended range of movement has two specific benefits. First, it enhances safety by allowing the helmsman to move outboard to the rail, increasing their forward sightline. This is especially helpful when trying to see around large headsails. Second, it allows for a number of new sitting positions for additional comfort. On many boats this means the driver can now safely relax on the stern rail seat.

ML-1 LED Spreader/Deck Light

SR-2 Jib Roller

The Forespar® SR-2 Jib Roller with fit shrouds from 3/16” thru 3/8” wire diameter. 

Use the proper size pair of insert liners according to the table below:

• 3/8” wire – use no insert
• 5/16” wire – use #1 inserts
• 9/32” wire – use #2 inserts
• ¼” wire – use #3 inserts
• 7/32” wire – use #4 inserts
• 3/16” wire – use #5 inserts

The Jib Rollers may be placed just above or below the spreader tips; however, installation will be easier if located below the spreaders. In this instance, you can pre-assemble the parts while on deck and reduce the possibility of losing parts while hanging in a boatswain’s chair. Have a 3 inch piece of masking tape within handy reach (stick it to the shroud).

Select the proper inserts, place them into the two halves of a hub and fit them around the shroud. Use the tape to loosely hold these parts together. Note that the hubs have two clearance screw holes at one end. Match these with the smaller holes at the other end of the other half. It is important that the mating faces of the inserts are parallel with the faces of the hub halves. Install the four screws supplied, tightening only to the extent that you can still slide the hub assembly up the wire shroud. Now remove the tape. 

Next, install the rollers. Note that one half of each roller has clearance holes for the two screws. Mate these halves that don’t have clearance holes. Run these screws tight. Now slide the Jib Roller to the desired position on the shroud and finish tightening the four hub screws until the hub interfaces are fully closed.

Lightning Master™ - Static Dissipater

Lightning Master™ Static Dissipaters lower the exposure to a direct lightning strike by controlling the conditions which trigger direct strike (i.e. they reduce the build-up of static ground charge and retard the formation of the ion “streamers” which complete the path for a lightning strike).

The Dissipater employs the point-discharge principle to continually leak off the lightning causing ground potential in low amperages over a long period of time instead of the short duration, high amperage discharge occurring with a lightning strike.

This is the same technology from the same manufacturer which is successfully employed to protect commercial broadcast and television towers from direct lightning strikes. This lightweight (5.2 oz.) 21” long Dissipater mounts to the masthead and extends vertically above all other masthead equipment.

We do not claim that this product is 100% effective in preventing a lightning strike. At the present collective level of understanding of the lightning phenomenon, no one can make that claim. This product does control the causes of lightning strikes and thereby reduces the incidence of direct strikes.
